"The Blue Wave Women" is a video piece commissioned by the Jeju Biennale 2022. It was exhibited at the significant cultural site "Samseonghyeol" on Jeju Island. This piece integrates mythological stories from Taiwan and Jeju Island by reconstructing the myth of the birth of an island nation.

"The Blue Wave Women" explores the origins of the myth surrounding the cave, including the prehistoric tribes, the giant serpent, and the sacrificial virgins. It extends further into metaphors of sexuality and the maternal body.

The piece was filmed in both Jeju and Taiwan by a Taiwanese filming crew. Composer Tak Chueng Hui composed the soundtrack, incorporating traditional Korean folk songs and live performances, thus connecting the collective memories and histories of the two islands.

Through the re-creation and reinterpretation of mythological elements, "The Blue Wave Women" seeks to incorporate the cultural and historical aspects of different regions. It presents a story that transcends time and space, aiming to evoke thoughts on origin, gender, myth, and cultural identity through the symbolism of island myths, echoing the geographical and cultural background of Jeju Island. The exploration of cave imagery sparks contemplation among the audience about origins, gender, myth, and cultural identity.
